Design details:
This basketball 50p was designed by Sarah Payne, a toy designer from Cardiff. Basketball made its Olympic debut at the 1936 Games in Berlin. In the 2012 Games the USA won both the men's and women's competitions. She only heard about the competition from her Nan, she saw it in the local paper, all the designers had to sign confidentiality agreements not to show anyone the design, sadly her Nan passed away but luckily she actually got to show the one person who had got her to enter the competition before she died.
